Haico Kats began his career as a news photographer in 1992. In 1996, his first photograph appeared on the front page of De Telegraaf.
Over the years he documented events that became part of the Dutch news landscape, including the 2005 diamond heist at Schiphol Airport.
While working in news photography, he was always drawn to the street — to small, quiet moments of everyday life that often go unnoticed. Alongside the news, he photographed these scenes whenever they caught his eye.
At the end of 2021 he stepped away from news photography. After several difficult years, he returned to the camera and to the street.
Today his work focuses on fleeting, unscripted moments from daily life — small fragments of time that might otherwise pass unseen.
