Katja’s love for art began in childhood with drawing and painting, you could always find her with a sketchbook, observing and sketching. Art has always been her love and subject in school, eventually leading to a creative foundation as a Fashion Graphic Designer. Followed by various classical and contemporary art techniques through (master)classes and fine art photography. Being a highly sensitive person since childhood, she noticed everything, the finest threads, the emotions she could read, the interconnectedness of everything which also intertwines with her love for history. Katja became fascinated by the depth behind the obvious. With a combined French Huguenot/Indonesian ancestral background, she has a fascination for the unseen depth of matter, history and mythology. With her Indonesian spirituality, the ongoing interaction between the visible and invisible is essential, aiming to find harmony and balance. In Katja's art, history, symbolism and mysticism merge into a timeless visual art piece. Her art explores the duality of existence, revealing hidden connections across cultures, religions, places, history and myths. Inspired by the interplay between the visible and invisible, matter and spirit she reconnects people in depth to all layers of mankind and humanity. With this she invites the viewer to reflect, connect and step a gentle step beyond the surface. The art becomes a mirror of the unseen but yet alive whisper of forgotten stories, in present and future. As everything is alive, everything is interconnected and has a role in life and time
