I'll be right back
Gérard, a man in his sixties, lives in an apartment in a low-income neighborhood of Lausanne, Switzerland. Our stories go back a long way: as a child, I spent many moments playing with Gérard’s children in the neighborhood where I grew up. From 2022 to early 2025, I documented his daily life through photography, following him closely in his quiet, solitary existence. My approach is rooted in a form of huis clos: I accompanied him exclusively in interior spaces — mainly his apartment, but also places such as cafés or bars — echoing the underlying question of confinement. Within these enclosed settings, his inner world becomes more palpable, allowing moments of intimacy, fragility, and presence to emerge.
