Street Photography Award Editors' Picks of September 2021

“It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head.” – Henri Cartier-Bresson

Following the results of last month’s street photography award judged by acclaimed Magnum photographer Nikos Economopoulos, we are sharing some of the competition entries that didn’t make it to the final round but impressed us by their overall strength and quality.

We discovered a great variety of street stories from all over the world and it was a pleasure to see photographers respond to the theme in so many ways. Daily scenes showing tenderness within family situations, candid moments of friendship, meticulously timed and framed scenes, and unexpected situations.

Photographers have shown versatility and a great eye for composition using both classic and experimental technics, through digital and film cameras and we’re delighted to feature the 12 artists presented here.

Congratulations to all selected artists: Candy Lopesino, Yael Gadot, Luning Cao, Stefano Carotenuto, Joseph-Philippe Bevillard, John Rydberg, Dominic Xavier, John Yuhas, Sabino Parente, Manuel Pena, Hersley-Ven Casero, Christopher Lim,
