Last month’s street photography award, judged by photographer and New York Times photo editor Mikko Takkunen, left a lasting impression!

Our editorial team was particularly captivated by several entries that, while not making the final cut, demonstrated exceptional quality, and we are delighted to give these impressive submissions a special spotlight.

From a heartwarming moment between a couple on a bridge in Istanbul, to young horse riders on the outskirts of the Senegalese capital, and a fleeting moment of stillness amid chaos on the streets of Kolkata, these captivating images reflect the compelling beauty of everyday life around the world, and we believe deserve recognition.

“Carnaval” - Puno, Peru
Puno is a city on the Titicaca Lake. It was the “Carnaval” all around the country at this time. A huge tradition in every single city in Peru. Many people dance, music in the street. "Rush" Calcuta, India
Contrast between motion and stillness. The iconic yellow taxi, a recognizable symbol of Kolkata, serves as the stable anchor amidst a blur of fleeting figures. The use of a slow shutter speed transforms the bustling crowd into a wave of movement, while the direct, almost confrontational gaze of the taxi driver offers a striking moment of human connection.
