Inspired by Erving Goffman's sociological work The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life, my photographs explore the theatrical dynamics of daily existence. Drawing on Goffman's concept of front and back stage, they capture the raw essence of everyday life, where each individual becomes both actor and audience in the city's ongoing drama. Each photograph attempts to reveal authentic moments and hidden narratives, inviting the viewer to reflect on the interplay between performance and reality in the streets around us. I am a sociologist and psychologist by education, and photography has become my passionate pursuit. Entirely self-taught, photography serves as a creative balance to my demanding professional commitments. Originally imprinted in Munich, I ventured to Cape Town for several years and now divide my life between Montreux and Genoa. On the many private or work-related travels around the world, my camera has become an essential companion in my messenger bag, much like a pencil to jot down notes in a sketchbook, allowing me to capture and preserve life's subtleties wherever the path leads. Each photograph is a reflection of my attempt to see the world not only through a single lens but also through the complex layers of human behaviour, social interaction, and the Presentation of Self in Everyday Life.
