My names Jackson Small, I’m 32 just recently got into street photography as i feel it’s purest form of truth. I basically been in out of fighting and running a muck most of my life. From 24-28 I pulled my head in for most of it and was really disciplined and worked to become Australian featherweight professional mma champion for XFC at one point. But like a lot of us i always been abit dysfunctional and fell off back into drug and alcohol addiction at 29. Which got me snowballing downhill from not rocking upto work, training, losing my title, losing my misses and kicking someone outside a club which got me locked up on assault, luckily just for a few months. Then came out got back on the drugs, couch surfing and homeless and now I have a place I rent in a share house and I’m happy and realised that I love doing photography and telling a story. Its good to now say I’m at peace with myself as most of my life I was trying to put this tough exterior on to realise that I didn’t need too, but fighting gave me the confidence and awareness of myself and surroundings as well as being disciplined and being comfortable in uncomfortable situations which I think also helps with the way I can approach people now knowing this is truely who I am I love people and want the best for the people! Bit of a spiel but fuck it might aswell tell ya how I came to this in a short story I guess.
