Santiago is a Photographer and Printer based in North London. Unlike most of his generation, he learnt his craft shooting only on film. He began using colour film and eventually he moved to shooting black and white. Coming from a mixed heritage background his work often explores the themes of place and solitude through a combination of landscape and street photography. He began printing in the darkroom 10 years ago, spending whatever he money he could hiring darkrooms, teaching himself to print. In 2023 he began apprenticing for Adrien Ensor (twice winner of the prestigious Ilford Master Printer Award). In 2024 he constructed his own darkroom, with a Devere 504 enlarger and the the capacity to print up to 20x24. Although he mostly prints his own work, he also prints for several well known photographer clients. His work has been exhibited in several galleries and published in publications such as Silvergrain Classics.
