Events in Nature A photography project by Kristoffer Axén

‘Events in Nature’ explores figures that drift aimlessly in landscapes, relating to the surreal facet of reality that constantly shimmers in the peripheral. Here, reality takes on the aesthetics of the hyper-real, and what is buried in our unconscious – fears, aversions and hopes – takes form in subtle, strange ways as they progress from the invisible into the visible.

Axén’s practice focuses mainly around one main theme which branches out into different series – that of the surrealism and solitude, which follows an introspective and examined existence. His images (meant to stand on their own even among a series or group) is therefore highly subjective and suggestive, and is consequently often dreamlike in its feel, relating more to atmosphere and mood in an anonymous setting, than to any specifics.
