Landscape Award Editors’ Picks of April 2022

Following the results of last month’s landscape competition, judged by German photographer Kai Hornung, our editorial team is delighted to share some of their favorite images that didn’t make the final selection.

We were truly stunned by the quality of the submissions we received and therefore, for this month, we’ve decided to increase the number of editor’s picks from 10 to 18.

We’d like to express our gratitude to all the photographers who took the time and care to share their work with us. The last few years have been extremely challenging, with restrictions on movement and travel, and we’d like to thank you for taking us with you on your journeys and reminding us of the breathtaking natural beauty that exists all over the world.

“The Snake River” - Norway
Norway is an incredible country. That day, I decided to walk to the foot of a glacier at the back of a small steep valley. But as I drove along a torrent in the valley, I decided to take some height... And what a surprise it was! © Olivier Jarry-Lacombe
“Vestrahorn in Iceland” - Iceland
If you saw this mountain in summer, you would be greeted by the sight of dark brown volcanic rocks. Their composition is mainly gabbroic rock with iron and magnesium mixed in. However, when the slopes of Vestrahorn are covered in snow and the winter light takes on a blue glare, the landscape begins to look a little more...mystical. © Nico Trinkhaus
“Pin Mill” - Suffolk, UK
Suffolk is my new exploration place on the map and its seems to be, so far, a fantastic place for minimalistic photography. Having so many historical ports and sea defense features, up and down the coastlines and rivers. This was an incredible scene. Left untouched and naturally arranged by tides and storms to really get them long exposures out and minimize the scene and mood. © Benjamin Hawkins
“Desert view”
A vast desert spanning a total area of 650,000 square kilometers, the Empty Quarter is a magnificent sea of dunes that has been untouched by mankind. This sprawling and beautiful desert spills into United Arab Emirates, parts of Saudi Arabia, Oman and Yemen. © Christina Dimitrova
