Judge: Matthieu Paley
Matthieu Paley is a French-born, National Geographic photographer and member of The Photo Society.
Underpinned by a deep interest in humanity, Matthieu has spent the last decade and a half capturing the complexities of everyday life across the globe: from the last true hunter-gatherers in Tanzania to the residents of the remote Pacific Ocean island of Nauru, the world’s smallest republic. Exploring themes of remoteness and isolation, his passion for, always looking “over the next ridge”, has provided him with countless opportunities to witness and capture our common humanity.
In addition to his photography, Matthieu regularly leads workshops for National Geographic Expeditions and is a lecturer for National Geographic Live. Over the years his work has been exhibited globally and published in numerous magazines including Geo, Newsweek, Time, Outside, and Le Monde.
