Paris Photo, the world’s leading art fair dedicated to photography, returns for its 27th edition with a packed schedule in the heart of the French capital.

After several years in its temporary iteration due to renovations, the fair will return to the majestic Grand Palais from November 7-10, 2024, with an expanded offering of 240 exhibitors from 34 countries showcasing the best in photography.

Paris Photo’s principal section will feature 147 galleries, 24 of which are new to the event. The Digital Section, which launched in 2023, returns under the guidance of curator Nina Roehrs with 15 projects that explore the boundaries of the photographic image, while A new section, Voices, will spotlight archival projects and the Latin American, Eastern, and Northern European scenes post-Cold War, curated by Sonia Voss, Elena Navarro, and Azu Nwagbogu.

In honor of the centenary of Surrealism, this year’s festival will spotlight a special selection of artworks curated by American director and screenwriter Jim Jarmusch. Other notable surrealist works include masterpieces by Man Ray at Bruce Silverstein (New York), Edwynn Houk (New York), and Les Douches (Paris), as well as works by Kati Horna at Sophie Scheidecker (Paris), and more contemporary voices such as Jack Davison at Cob Gallery (London)

Robert Frank, would also have turned 100 this year, and several galleries will pay tribute to the great Swiss photographer’s legacy. Pace will feature a solo exhibition in his honor, Thomas Zander will examine his influence on future generations, and Steidl will highlight his books. Other prominent figures showcased include Hiroshi Sugimoto at Fraenkel, Charlotte Perriand at M77, Richard Avedon and Tyler Mitchell at Gagosian, Herbert List at Karsten Greve, and Fred Herzog and David Hockney, at Equinox.

Meanwhile, The Prismes section offers an immersive experience with monumental works, including August Sander’s seminal series, “People of the Twentieth Century”, shown in Europe for the first time.

Elles × Paris Photo returns, celebrating the work of women photographers under the curation of Raphaëlle Stopin, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Kering’s Women in Motion programme.

This year the Editions Sector has grown, with 45 publishers and booksellers from around the world highlighting the central role that photography books continue to play in both the artistic and historical development of the medium.

The fair’s return to the Grand Palais also allows for an exhibition exploring Lithuania’s rich photographic heritage, showcasing works from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Centre Pompidou, and Lithuanian Photographers Association, presented in the Salon d’Honneur, in the heart of the fair.

For younger audiences, Paris Photo introduces an interactive educational space focused on children’s photo books. Co-produced by the Institut pour la Photographie and Photo Elysée, the exhibition “L is for Look” explores the evolution of this genre since the 1930s, providing an engaging way to introduce children to photography.

Lastly, À Paris Pendant Paris Photo offers a city-wide overview of exhibitions and events taking place throughout the week, celebrating Paris’ vibrant culture and photographic heritage.
