street photography, urban life, composing colorful interactions, with light and shadow, by Chris Garvi in Marseille

Marseille – Colors I sing A photography project by Chris Garvi

Based in Marseille, France, Chris Garvi captures fleeting moments of day to day urban life, composing colourful interactions between subjects and time; Where light and shadow meet.

“Marseille – In a hundred ways I’ve tried to photograph this city. Large format, medium format, 24×36, colors and black and white – but always, I found something was missing.

One day, as I was carrying my Leica with a roll of kodak portra, I made a picture, a little by chance I guess. I remember the exact moment when I made this picture. I was literally stroke from head to toe, feeling so excited that I screamed out of joy!

– I knew I had found a way to photograph Marseille, at last…”
