Night Project A photography project by Marilyn Mugot

“Shot in the USA and China over a period of two years in 2014-2016. The Night Project is based on a play of light and color with an emphasis on the aesthetics of 90s cinema.

Since childhood I am deeply in love with cinema and my passion for movies plays a key part in the project. During my time traveling I wanted to seize and materialize my sensitivity towards beauty in urban spaces and it has been a real challenge to find those perfect moments – When lighting would be exactly as I imagined it.

I perceive my photographic work through a director’s eye. The difference however is that in my vision the whole world is a stage, with a sensation of infinite possibilities in a “limitless” environment.

I strive to create a visual universe where fantasies, dreams and travels come together. Landscapes at night exacerbates a specific contemplative feeling which has encouraged me to create a new, obscure and sparkling world full of secrets and mystery.” – Marilyn Mugot
