The Mother Road II A photography project by Hayley Eichenbaum

For the past three years, American photographer Hayley Eichenbaum has documented her cross-country travels, resulting in “The Mother Road series”, which focuses primarily on the maintained remnants of the American Southwest.

Inspired by 1960s cinematography, the series celebrates the freedom of traveling as well the interaction of form and colour found in a variety of architecture and landscapes. Eichenbaum examines notions of the façade.

How does one preserve romance that is on the verge of decay? Through her work Eichenbaum aims to capture these hopeful circumstances, both within the architectural realm and the human body.
