We are thrilled to announce that, for the first time ever, our Talents of the Year exhibition is coming to London!

─── by Josh Bright, October 10, 2023

This October, 18-22, we will be at The PhotoBook Cafe in the city’s beating creative heart, showcasing some of the most exciting new talent in contemporary photography! Entry will be free for all, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming the London community to the event.

Following successful exhibitions across Europe, including Berlin, Milan, and Barcelona, we are excited to introduce it to London for the very first time. The city boasts a rich photographic heritage and remains a thriving artistic hub: a multicultural metropolis packed with endless creative possibilities.

For our inaugural London event, we are excited to collaborate with The PhotoBook Cafe. We approached them first and foremost because they share the same passion for the medium as we do. Launched by the nearby Rapideye Studios in 2019, this space, located in the vibrant Shoreditch district of East London, serves as a hub for the city’s thriving photographic community, hosting book launches and events, and offers a meeting point where people can relax, enjoy food and drinks. Their recently opened gallery space adds yet another dimension to their offerings and is the perfect location for our first exhibition in the city.

As ever, the exhibition will represent 12 months of awards, featuring the work of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners, each selected by a renowned figure from the photographic world. From our Street Photography Award, which opened the 2022/2023 iteration (judged by the legendary NYC photographer Jamel Shabazz), to our People Award in December (judged by The Guardian’s Head of Photography, Molly Roberts), and our recent Travel Award (judged by Magnum’s Steve McCurry), our awards cover the full spectrum of photography, offering practitioners of all ages and backgrounds a chance to showcase their talents. And this year, as always, they didn’t disappoint.

This exhibition also marks the first time we will be displaying images from our Fashion Award. In February, we hosted our first-ever fashion-themed award, judged by Alessia Glaviano, Brand Visual Director of Vogue Italia and L’Uomo Vogue, and we are thrilled to be showcasing the exceptional winners for the first time in one of the world’s foremost fashion capitals.

The exhibition will be free to enter, commencing on Wednesday, October 20, with a vernissage from 6pm, and will remain open daily until Sunday, the 22nd. Additionally, we will have copies of the accompanying photobook, featuring all exhibition imagery, from captivating portraits to dynamic street photography, breathtaking landscapes, compelling documentary stories and more. We hope to see you all there!
