“Parade queen” - San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico
The parade queen awaits her cue in the parade for the festival of la Virgen de Guadalupe. The image is from my ongoing, long-term project, Sacred/Sagrado: Festivals of Mexico. The series, captured on film and printed in my analog darkroom, captures events that are deeply meaningful to the communities that celebrate them each year. © Jenna Mulhall-Brereton

“City in the Clouds” - Dubai, United Arab Emirates
A panoramic view of Downtown Dubai, Business Bay, and the Sheikh Zayed Road skyline, as the light from the rising sun in the east illuminates the world’s tallest building. Thick fog rolling in from the desert covers the ground, creating the illusion of a city in the clouds. While a few images of this rare phenomenon exist by now, I’ve always been looking for a new angle and composition during my time in Dubai - through persistence and patience, I’ve been able to achieve this goal through a photo from the roof of a skyscraper that’s a little bit set back from the rest of the skyline. © Florian Kriechbaumer

    “The World Away”
Our protagonist, an albino girl often feels this way when she relates to others. In this case I wanted to represent this sense of unease of our protagonist by imagining that she actually belongs to another world but nevertheless she settles down on our planet relating to others who consider her different even if she often does not feel accepted. She met a friend who accept and love her and has many difficulties to leave her gone when it is the moment to leave this world and come back to hers. © Giandomenico Veneziani

    “Water Portals 006”
Levitating in the waters of the Chilean coast, the photographer places these sculptures in the form of portals, that represent our origin in the heavens, and that operate as entrances to some unknown places outside this world, but which are connected with our same space and time through this anti-gravity geometry. © Esteban Amaro

    “Ulpiano” - Zuleta Ecuador
When I went to Zuleta, I was going to take a photo of the sunrise, but the sun went down, the mist descended and Ulpiano told me that “the beautiful thing about the place is the randomness of the weather because you don’t know what you’re going to find tomorrow.” © Leo Bastidas Yar

    “Touched”
Part of my series ‘A Zillion Seas’. A little more than a year ago I liberated myself from practical attachments to intensify my connection to nature. I had a deep desire for intense sensations that would stir me up, and bring me closer to my authentic feelings. In the series, I reproduce the sensations I was experiencing while connecting with the force of the Atlantic Ocean. © Jos Van Dijk
