Jury's Feedback
1ST PRIZE: Jozef Macak
“This photograph has exceptional storytelling power combined with strong formal structure. The figures are well distributed across the frame without feeling staged, and the plank functioning as a bridge between dock and vessel gives the eye a clear path through the scene. The quieter activity on the water behind provides depth without competing with the foreground action.” — Gulnara Lyabib Samoilova
2ND PRIZE: Gavin Libotte
“Shot from a low angle, the frame uses the contrast between deep shadow and direct sunlight effectively. The fan’s ribbed shadow falling across the subject’s face is a strong formal element, and the placement of the building in the upper right creates a compositional counterweight. The wind movement in the hair adds a sense of timing that suggests the photographer was patient and deliberate in the moment.” — Gulnara Lyabib Samoilova
3RD PRIZE: Victor Djaja
“A masterclass in composition, timing, and color. Victor Djaja transforms a moment of quotidian life into something compelling, reminiscent of masters like Harry Gruyaert and Alex Webb. The central pillar and repetitive shadows create a multi-layered stage, balancing a sun-drenched yellow dress against deep, graphic silhouettes. A stunning image that celebrates the vibrant theatre of the everyday.” – The Independent Photographer Editors
